Physical Adaptations
Koalas adapted to survive their habitat. For example, eucalyptus leaves are rough to eat so the cheek teeth are only premolars and four broad teeth. Eucalyptus leaves also contain toxins that are deadly to other animals. However, koalas have a digestive system that detoxifies the leaves. The digestive system also slowly breaks down the nutrients to conserve energy. The claws also help koalas climb trees.
